VITIS® ENCÍAS PRESENTS ITS NEW GINGIVAL HEALTH CAMPAIGN

Dentaid News

19 Oct 2014

During pregnancy, hormonal and physiological changes occur in women that can exacerbate minor complications in the oral cavity, such as, for example, gum disease. This is because during this period, there is an increase in vascular permeability, which leads to an increase in the transfer of periodontal pathogens from the tooth surface to the bloodstream (bacteraemia), as well as periodontal inflammatory mediators themselves, which end up spreading systemically(1)

It is precisely the exacerbated gingivitis, known as periodontitis, which can be irreversible, causing adverse pregnancy outcomes including: preterm delivery, low birth weight or pre-eclampsia/eclampsia(1)

For this reason, oral care before and during pregnancy takes on great importance for preventing the occurrence of gingivitis and its evolution to periodontitis.

50% of all women with gingivitis befote becoming pregnant present periodontitis during pregnancy

· Preterm delivery: delivery that occurs before the 37th week of pregnancy.

· Low birth weight: birth weight under 2,500 grams.

· Pre-eclampsia/eclampsia: associated with hypertension induced during labour and with elevated urine protein levels.

VITIS® encías prevents and helps treat gingivitis-related gingival inflammation and bleeding, therefore preventing the onset of periodontitis when used with toothbrushing

VITIS® encías Campaign: "BY TAKING CARE OF YOUR GUMS, YOU ARE PROTECTING YOUR BABY"

With this campaign, VITIS® encías intends to raise awareness among women about the importance of preventing gum disease in order to prevent possible adverse pregnancy outcomes, and to teach them the benefits of the VITIS® encías product line.

Helping the pharmacy inform pregnant women about the importance of gingival health during pregnancy is also an opportunity to maintain the role of pharmacists as the trusted professional during this time in women's lives.

With initiatives like this one, DENTAID continues to support the pharmaceutical channel with campaigns that promote oral health and exhibition at the point of sale, therefore increasing product turnover.
