DRY MOUTH? CONSULT THE NEW XEROS DENTAID® WEBSITE

News

27 Feb 2017

At DENTAID, we have redesigned the Xeros dentaid® website (www.xerosdentaid.es), offering specific information about xerostomia and making it still easier for users to consult.

On the homepage under the “What is xerostomia?” section, it specifies what this oral condition is, what its signs and symptoms are, who suffers dry mouth, why it occurs and how this problem affects the day-to-day life of those who suffer it, besides offering solutions with products specifically formulated to treat this condition.

In general, xerostomia shows a prevalence of 20% to 40% and is most common in women, seniors and poly-medicated patients. This prevalence is growing because of the large number of people who are currently taking more than one medication, and it is therefore necessary to focus attention on this group of patients.

“STOP DRY MOUTH!”, THE BLOG

A highly rated and interesting section, both for professionals and people with dry mouth, the Xeros dentaid® blog, “Stop Dry Mouth!” includes articles written by professionals from different areas, such as oncologists, speech therapists or endocrinologists, among others.

The tips and solutions posted may be useful for patients who suffer from this problem day-to-day.

HOW TO PREVENT AND IMPROVE DRY MOUTH SYMPTOMS?

Xerostomia can affect the day-to-day lives of those who suffer it. With these simple tips you can improve saliva secretion to prevent the sensation of a dry mouth and to improve oral health.

  • Oral hygiene

Carry out strict oral hygiene daily (avoiding mouthwashes containing alcohol).

  • Drink water

Maintain adequate intake of water throughout the day.

  • Care for your lips

Moisten your lips from time to time and apply lip balms.

  • Diet

Eat cured cheeses, fruits and vegetables more often to increase salivation.

  • Avoid certain foods

Dry, sticky, sugary, spicy, acidic, salty, very cold or very hot foods should be avoided.

  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol

Avoid irritating products that contain caffeine or alcohol.

THE SOLUTION
